Have you ever felt like you did not belong? Or do you think that you owe your success only to luck and not because you worked hard for it, and that you did not actually earn your achievements?

I know that many ambitious, high-achieving, parallel-preneurs people like you, with whom I have worked struggle with this problem and just do not know how to deal with it. Maybe you feel the same way, and I hope this article will help you deal with your Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is an ugly, unpleasant voice in your head that holds you back when you are trying to do something big. The more significant the change, the louder the voice that tells you that you did not have the experience or that you only got this far by luck.

  1. Thinking that you are a fraud and that people will find out, therefore you believe that you do not deserve the success you have achieved. Even though you are capable or creative, even though you have a proven record of accomplishment, you still feel that you could be unmasked and exposed anytime.
  2. Thinking that everything was pure luck, even if you were in the right place at the right time.   When you think that failure is not an option and you worked extra hard just to avoid being “unmasked.” That is an imposter syndrome.

It causes you to resent tiny mistakes and not acknowledge your accomplishments, attributing them to luck rather than skill. It stops your progress – you think you are not smart enough, so you stop trying.

If any of these apply to you, then you probably struggle with imposter syndrome. I understand that we have all experienced one or the other because maybe your business is not certified or does not have the necessary accreditation, or your core business value is real skills and experience that qualify you, so sometimes when your skills are questioned, you feel like an imposter.

Here are the four different ways to be used when dealing with imposter syndrome.

1. Start contributing to your own success

Think of all the things you have accomplished. Maybe you can spend an afternoon or a break writing down all your successes, all the things you have accomplished, and every time Imposter Syndrome comes up, go back and look at that list. Whether you have written a book or helped clients get a result, whatever that may be, write down those successes and look at them regularly. Whenever you hear that negative voice in your head, stop for a minute, take a deep breath, think about your successes, and use them as inspiration to keep going.

2. Don’t compare yourself  to others

Sometimes you need to work on improving yourself more than proving yourself. Comparing your own life to others, especially what you have seen on social media, is a trap for feeling like you do not measure up. Always remember that you do not know what others have been through or how long it took them to get to where they are now.

3. Accept that your work is in progress

Everyone makes mistakes, and the most important thing we do when we make mistakes is to learn from them.

4. Learn to fail better

Failure is inevitable, we make mistakes or fail all the time, when it happens to us, think about it and learn from it. Shake off the dust, move on and learn from the mistakes you have made.

Here’s a bonus tip for you.
