I personally own and manage a business that has three separate offerings. Coaching is one of these services, which is facilitated by my networking group. In addition, I am in the midst of building a co-working facility. Maintaining a high degree of organization is not a choice for me; it is an imperative must in order to efficiently handle various duties and guarantee that all elements of my business run smoothly.
While I aim to maintain excellent organization on a daily basis, I recognize that mistakes do happen because we are all human. However, I am devoted to always improving my management skills in order to increase the productivity and growth of my company.
This article seeks to provide an assessment of effective organizing tactics, emphasize my personal approach, and provide actionable recommendations.
1. Update your calendar or your planner every single day
Consistent daily organizing is essential for productivity and success. One excellent strategy is to note all commitments, including calls, meetings, and tasks, in your calendar. By doing this, you create a clear plan for your day and reduce the danger of forgetting or missing crucial deadlines. This method can also be applied to personal commitments, ensuring that your calendar remains complete and balanced.
Also, it is a must to prioritize self-care in addition to professional commitments, especially as a busy business owner. Setting aside time for meals is essential for fueling your body and maintaining energy levels. You may avoid overlooking or prioritizing work over fundamental necessities by proactively scheduling daily lunches and meals. This technique not only improves physical health, but it also improves mental attention and general productivity.
Consolidating all chores and appointments onto a single calendar or planner will help you streamline your organizational efforts. Whether you prefer a digital solution or a conventional handwritten calendar, having a centralized system where you can quickly track and manage your commitments is essential. By constantly updating and referring to your preferred technique, you can keep a clear perspective of your schedule, limit the danger of overbooking, and guarantee that no vital chores are forgotten.
2. Take notes with pen and paper at your meetings
While I use various technological devices for my business, I take a systematic approach to taking notes during meetings, whether they are in-person or via video conference. I prefer the conventional way of putting pen to paper for two main reasons.
I prioritize taking notes using a pen and paper during meetings since it increases speed and improves information retention. In an increasingly digital environment, embracing this analog method allows me to maximize my productivity and comprehension, eventually benefiting both myself and the results of the meetings I attend.
3. Devote certain weekdays to certain tasks
Given my three separate services, I devote the majority of my time to my community networking organization and coaching practice. To efficiently handle these obligations, I’ve created a weekly calendar that guarantees I devote enough time and attention to each one.
Mondays and Wednesdays are committed to strengthening community bonds and completing any chores required for the smooth operation of my networking organization. This includes meeting objectives and meeting milestones related to this specific service. I can retain focus and produce excellent outcomes by allocating particular days to this pursuit.
My primary attention turns to my coaching practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These days are devoted to providing great service and guaranteeing the growth and success of my coaching engagements. By focusing my efforts on these precise days, I am able to manage customer needs, implement plans, and uphold the high standards expected in my sector.
Fridays are my personal day, allowing me to attend to personal appointments and duties. This scheduled day allows me to maintain a healthy work-life balance while also attending to my personal well-being.
Saturdays are designated as a “float day,” serving as a buffer to complete any unfinished duties from the previous week. By using Saturday mornings to complete outstanding tasks, I can begin the following week with a clean slate, avoiding any unneeded carryover of pending work.
This approach to managing my time and obligations allows me to maximize productivity, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and guarantee that each part of my offerings gets the attention it deserves.
